Standards
UL Standards (Underwriter’s Laboratories) Safety Standards of US (UL 489, UL 1077)
UL is an organization in the US which establishes safety standards, i.e. UL Standards, conducts safety verification test based on the UL Standards, issues the certificates to approved products and allows the manufacturers to attach the certification mark to the products. The UL certification mark has been spread widely in the US. Some states and cities oblige manufacturers to receive the UL certification. When devices, control panels and machines are exported to the US, these products must be UL certified. UL certified products have received UL Recognition or UL Listing in conformity to UL Standards (UL 489, UL 1077) and allowed to be used in control panels and machines to be exported to the US.
UL Recognition
Refers to component certification for products designed to be built in other products and devices. UL recognized products can be used in control panels, machine tools and control units.
UL Listing
Refers to product certification for products which can be sold directly to end-users and used by end-users. These products can be used also as built-in components in control panels, machine tools and control units.
CSA Standards (Canadian Standard Association) Standards of Canada (CSA C22.2 No.5-02)
The CSA Standards are product safety standards established by CSA. UL certified products have received CSA certification from the testing body UL and allowed to be used in control panels and machines to be exported to Canada. UL has been authorized as a testing, certification and quality certification body by SCC, and CSA certified products tested by UL have been approved by the safety regulations in all states of Canada. It is allowed to attach the following certification marks to products certified by both UL and CSA. (It is also allowed to attach the separate marks for the US and Canada as before.)
Recognition for US and Canada
UL and CSA recognition of components by testing body UL
Listing for US and Canada

UL listed Circuit Breakers
WS-V Series – UL 489 Listed MCCB and UL 489 Listed ELCB
- This achieves dimensions of the smallest level in the industry with a width of 54 mm and contributes to the design of more compact machinery.
(Relevant models: NF-50-SVFU, NV50-SVFU)
The IEC 35 mm rail is supported as standard, so these are also ideal for control panels where multiple breakers are lined up in branch circuits. - The lineup of specifications supporting 480 VAC voltage has been expanded.
(Relevant models: NF/NV125-SVU, NF/NV125-HVU, NF/NV250-SVU, NF/NV250-HVU) - It is also possible to install an SHT (voltage trip device) on a no fuse breaker with earth leakage protection and this has made the configuration of emergency stop circuits easier.
- The UL certification has been obtained at the accessory level, so individual accessory units can be supplied as components. It is possible for the customers to perform installation and replacement work when sudden specification changes occur.
SRU/HRU Series – UL 489 Listed MCCB and UL 489 Listed ELCB
- These have one of the smallest sizes in the industry for items supporting 480 V and contribute to the design of more compact machinery.
They can be used on 480 VACΔ (delta) circuits.
(Relevant models: NF100-HRU, NV100-HRU type) - There is simultaneous support for various overseas standards and simultaneous marking (UL-cUL-CE-CCC).
The breaker related regulations of North America, Europe, China and Japan are supported. - Earth leakage protection for inverter and servo circuits has advanced even further.
SMU Series – UL 489 Listed MCCB
- The lineup of slim UL489 certified items contributes to the design of more compact machinery with a 1P width dimension of 18 mm.
- The simultaneous conformance to various overseas standards and simultaneous marking (JIS-cULus-CE-CCC) mean that it is possible to select models regardless of the application.
- An IP20 class opening/closing type terminal cover is included as standard.
- Common use for AC/DC. (1P only)
- The wide lineup ranging from rated currents of 0.5 to 50 A makes flexible model selection possible.
Compatible 400AF/630AF
- The lineup of specifications supporting an 480 VAC voltage has been expanded.
All models including the no fuse breakers with earth leakage protection (NV) can be used on 480 VAC circuits. - The H class with greatly increased breaking capacity has now been added to the lineup.
This responds to the demands for a higher SCCR (short-circuit current rating) in North America. - The UL certification has been obtained at the accessory level.
Component sales for individual accessory units are supported and customers can perform installation and replacement work when sudden specification changes occur.
* This excludes the undervoltage trip device (UVT).
